Chair: Frank Castro
Vice Chair:  position vacant - please volunteer!
Treasurer: Denise Boisvert-Jorgensen
Secretary and Information Officer: Karen Ivy

Frank Castro

Chairman; I have lived in Rockridge for the past 6 years.  I have lived in the Bay Area for the past 27 years.  I am one of the moderators of RockridgeResidents.org  I do volunteer work for Norcal Golden Retriever Rescue and can often be seen walking the streets of Rockridge with my partner Sandy and our two Goldens, Sasha and Morgan.  I love our neighborhood and want to do more to help preserve the best aspects of Rockridge by helping our residents be safe.

Denise Boisvert-Jorgensen

Treasurer;  I moved to North Oakland/Rockridge/ Broadway in 1997.  I’ve volunteered over the years for various local and national projects and causes.  I attended my first NCPC meeting in 2004 and by the end of the year had volunteered to become the Treasurer when the person in the position needed to leave it.  My professional experience is in Accounting and Group Travel.  I firmly believe that the time to fight crime is before it happens – get to know your neighbors, be aware of your surroundings, don’t hesitate to call in anything suspicious, and be active and engaged in your community.

 Karen Ivy

Secretary/ Information officer; I’ve lived in Rockridge since 1986; I’m a native Californian and a native of the Bay Area, with 2 degrees from U.C. Berkeley.  I’m now retired from the second of my two professions:  I’ve been a librarian, and I’ve been a computer programmer/systems analyst.  I’m doing volunteer web design for 2 non-profits as well as being a member of the NCPC and volunteering at the Alameda County Community Food Bank.  I’m co-moderator for the Rockridge Neighborhood Crime Watch Yahoo! group and moderator for the new RockridgeNCPC Yahoo! group.  I will also monitor voicemail on the 373-NCPC phone number.  I’m interested in helping the neighborhood because I live here.

Other Active Volunteers

Vivek Bhatia

Monthly crime statistics and community outreach, and the owner of the RockridgeResidents.org web site: It's been said that people would rather be lucky than good, and i'm no exception. I moved to San Francisco from the East Coast on a whim in '96, moved to Rockridge in '01 on a whim when the wife & I got bugged at the prices of condos in SF and bid on a place in Rockridge without paying much attention. This is such an awesome neighborhood that many times I wonder what I did in a prior life to be this lucky. I'm a management consultant by profession, and got involved with crime stats & community organizing because I was unsatisfied with the status quo, and theorized that there were others like me.  I'll see you around the neighborhood, if you see a tall Indian guy with almost no hair, tap me and i'll buy you a drink at the nearest pub Smile

Newsflash

You've probably read about it in the newspaper, or seen it on a Yahoo group.  Chief Anthony Batts of the OPD has put out a strategic plan for the police department, and he wants YOUR input on it!  The 4 public meetings he scheduled are over, but you can still review the plan yourself and respond.  Here is the plan itself, and the presentation:
