When Crime Occurs

Report a crime If you see a crime in progress, call the police!

Only call 911 from a land line!

From a cell phone call 510-777-3211 which routes directly to OPD dispatch.

To report a crime that has already happened, call the non-emergency number 510-777-3333, or fill in OPD's Online Crime Reporting form.  You'll find the link on their Report a Crime page.

For MEDICAL OR FIRE EMERGENCIES ONLY, you can call the Fire Department directly at 510-444-1616.  They may respond faster than OPD.

Send OPD an Anonymous Tip

What Beat do I Live In?

To learn what police beat you're in, check the Police District Locator.  Enter your address and the map will show:

  • what policing area you're in,
  • what beat you're in,
  • the name and meeting address of the local NCPC,
  • dates and times of the meetings,
  • the name and email of the Neighborhood Services Coordinator (NSC)
  • an address where you can reach your beat's Community Resource Officer (CRO)

Ready for Emergencies?

Are you prepared for emergencies?  Do you know what Oakland and Alameda County provide for both dealing with emergencies and responding to emergencies?  Check out our reference page on Emergency Preparedness and see what your options are.

New Community Resource Officers

Beats 12Y and 13X have new Community Resource Officers assigned as of January 23, 2021. Officer Meeran Gichki will now serve beat 12, and Officer Aaron Johnson will now serve beat 13.

Fortunately neither of the Rockridge beats lost a CRO in OPD's recent budget arrangements.  You can find their information on the NCPC web site main menu at Resources > Important People.

New OPD Web Page

As part of OPD's recent district policing reorganization, Area 2 in North Oakland (beats 8 through 14) now has its own web page:

Area 2

It lists the senior officers in charge of North Oakland and the Hills, plus other contacts and information.  The only crime statistics available on the Area 2 site at the moment are the ShotSpotter statistics, which include other general statistics about gun related crime.
