Monthly Crime Stats - May 2022
The monthly crime statistics for May 2022, for beats 12Y and 13X, are now available on http://rockridgencpc.com, under Resources > Crime Stats and Maps > Rockridge Crime Trends 2021-2022. Here’s a direct link to the page:

Crime in May was down considerably from March and April – 55 total incidents for both beats, as against 74 for both beats in April and 104 for both in March. I still don’t know if there’s actually less crime or a new problem with the data feed. For May against April, the primary decrease in 12Y was in auto-related property crimes (from 17 down to 8) and quality of life (from 12 to 5). Crimes against the person were down slightly in both beats but were low to begin with. Property and auto-related property crimes were up slightly in 13X, which also had (for the first time I’ve seen) zero quality of life crimes. That mainly means no vandalism. I will be trying to reach the city’s new chief information officer, Tony Batalla, to discuss this.
In the meantime, remember that I can only analyze crimes that are reported to the police. If you think it’s not worth reporting an incident, and don’t call it in or report it online, it will never show up in the data the city publishes, which I analyze and publish here. And reporting an incident on NextDoor does not count and is not tracked.
