The monthly crime statistics for July 2021, for beats 12Y and 13X, are now available on http://rockridgencpc.com, under Resources > Crime Stats and Maps > Rockridge Crime Trends 2021-2022. Here’s a direct link to the page: https://tinyurl.com/y9yyke8v

In beat 12Y, crime was up in 1 category and down in 3 – auto related property crimes rose from 13 in June to 20. Every other category dropped by 5-6 incidents. 12Y had no more than 20 reported incidents in any one category. Overall crime in 12Y in July was down from June numbers. In beat 13X, there were no crimes against the person in July. Property crimes rose from 5 in June to 8, and quality of life (mostly vandalism) from 3 to 4. Auto-related property crime was down slightly. 13X had no more than 8 reported incidents in any one category. Beat 12Y had 2 crimes which were each charged in 2 different categories, both of which appear to be carjackings – firearm related charges and vehicle theft at the same time and in the same location.
After some discussion on NextDoor about what the statistics really mean, I have reformatted the report to include more information about what the various crime classes we use represent, and have added the previous month’s numbers (June) for comparison. If people like this I will continue it.

OPD is interviewing Police Officer Trainees again. I did the in-person oral board interviews on August 3, and they are in fact being very careful about COVID-19 exposures. They will feed you breakfast and lunch, very carefully.
They will need 5 community members and they need responses by Monday, August 16.
