Oakland's Reimagining Public Safety Task Force has published a community survey, they would like residents to fill it out. You can find the survey here:

We had a very interesting presentation by Ricardo Garcia-Acosta from Youth Alive! on the work they do trying to keep young people in Oakland and other cities away from crime.

Crime was up in various accounts in both beats but not above historical levels. Crimes against the person rose substantially – they quadrupled from last month in both beats (12Y, from 3 to 12; 13X, from 2 to 8). Not huge but a bad trend. Ordinary property crimes were up slightly in 12Y and even in 13X. Auto related property crimes doubled in 12Y (10 to 20), but only rose by 1 in 13X. Quality of life crimes (mostly vandalism) went from 5 to 11 in 12Y, but only increased by 1 in 13X.
