Web Site Under Construction

If you visited this site for information about, or from, the Greater Rockridge NCPC, this may be all the information you see right now. We learned this spring that the current version of our website software was going out of support in August. We also learned that the template we were using (which controls what shows where on the site) wasn't supported on the new version. We're currently working on rebuilding the site on the new version, using a new template. There will be a short (we hope) period where this and earlier blog posts will be all that's visible. We hope to get the site reconfigured within a few days. In the meantime, if you have questions about the Greater Rockridge NCPC, or need information that is briefly unavailable, please email

Reporting illegal fireworks

With the Fourth of July days away, the Oakland Police Department (OPD) and Oakland Fire Department (OFD) are working together to limit the impact of illegal fireworks in Oakland.
OPD and OFD are hoping to remove illegal fireworks from residential neighborhoods and prevent wildfires. All fireworks are illegal in Oakland and citable. Those caught with fireworks, even the “Safe & Sane” brand, can be fined up to $1,000.
OFD has firework collection barrels set up at the following fire stations:
• Station 1: 1603 Martin Luther King Jr. Way
• Station 3: 1445 14th Street
• Station 4: 1235 International Boulevard
• Station 5: 934 34th Street
• Station 18: 5008 Bancroft Avenue
• Station 20: 1401 98th Avenue
The collection sites are for residents that want to surrender unused fireworks, and for OPD to drop off confiscated fireworks.
If you know someone or see someone who is in possession, selling, and/or lighting fireworks, you can call the OPD Fireworks Tip Line at (510) 777-8814 to anonymously report the sale, possession, and/or use of fireworks in the City of Oakland.
