When Crime Occurs

Report a crime If you see a crime in progress, call the police!

Only call 911 from a land line!

From a cell phone call 510-777-3211 which routes directly to OPD dispatch. 

To report a crime that has already happened, call the non-emergency number 510-777-3333, or fill in OPD's Online Crime Reporting form.  You'll find the link on their Report a Crime page.

For MEDICAL OR FIRE EMERGENCIES ONLY, you can call the Fire Department directly at 510-444-1616.  They may respond faster than OPD.

Next NCPC Meeting

The Greater Rockridge NCPC meets on the 2nd Thursday of even numbered months:  February, April, June, August, October, and December. 

Next meeting:  Thursday, December 14, 2023, 7:00 PM, Rockridge Library conference room.

Bi-monthly meeting of the Greater Rockridge Neighborhood Crime Prevention Council.  In addition to brief presentations by the Community Resource Officers, and some discussion of local crime and safety issues, we will have a presentation from District Attorney Pamela Price.  We don’t plan to take live questions during the meeting.  Attendees who have questions for the speaker can submit them at the meeting in writing or on Zoom, or by email to chair@rockridgencpc.com before the meeting.

In-person will meet in the library conference room, masks optional.  There will be a hybrid meeting for those who don't want to attend in person.

What Beat do I Live In?

To learn what police beat you're in, check the Police District Locator.  Enter your address and the map will show:

  • what policing area you're in,
  • what beat you're in,
  • the name and meeting address of the local NCPC,
  • dates and times of the meetings,
  • the name and email of the Neighborhood Services Coordinator (NSC)
  • an address where you can reach your beat's Community Resource Officer (CRO)

If you are concerned about e-scooters on Oakland streets, the NCPC urges you to attend this town hall and give the Dept. of Transportation (DOT) your concerns.  There may be more general meetings as time goes on; there will definitely be some neighborhood meetings, still not scheduled.

Yahoo Group Problems

We're having a problem emailing to our Yahoo groups, Rockridge Neighborhood Watch Network and RockridgeNCPC.  I emailed the notice of the August crime stats a few days ago and have gotten two emails from my ISP's mail server saying the mail can't be delivered because the Yahoo mail resource is "temporarily unavailable."  If you try to post something to either of these groups and it doesn't appear on the list within an hour or so, please notify This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and I'll look into it.  Most people use NextDoor these days, but a few people still post to the Yahoo groups.

I've opened a problem question on the Yahoo user forums - Yahoo doesn't have direct customer support any more.
