When Crime Occurs

Report a crime If you see a crime in progress, call the police!

Only call 911 from a land line! Cell phone calls to 911 go directly to CHP in Martinez and have to be forwarded.

Call the non-emergency number 510-777-3333, or fill in OPD's Online Crime Reporting form. You'll find the link on their Report a Crime page. We've been warned that the form is easier to fill out on a laptop or desktop than it is on a smartphone.

For MEDICAL OR FIRE EMERGENCIES ONLY, call the Fire Department directly at 510-444-1616. They respond faster than OPD.

Next NCPC Meeting

The Greater Rockridge NCPC meets on the 2nd Thursday of even numbered months: February, April, June, August, October, and December.

Next meeting: Thursday, October 8, 2026, 7:00 PM, Rockridge Library conference room.

Bi-monthly meeting of the Greater Rockridge Neighborhood Crime Prevention Council. We'll hope to have brief presentations by the local OPD officers, and a discussion of local crime and safety issues. Our speaker will be Zurvohn Maloof, Inspector General of the Oakland Police Commission, who will discuss how his office works with OPD and the Police Commission.

In-person will meet in the library conference room, masks optional. There will be a hybrid meeting for those who don't want to attend in person.

The 2 types of property crime in beat 12Y have swapped places again. In March auto-related crimes (burglaries and thefts) increased from 13 to 22, while other property crimes dropped from 23 to 14. I’m concerned about the increase in crimes against the person in 12Y since January – the graph shows a steadily rising line, and March had 3 reported incidents involving assaults with firearms, and one where someone carried a loaded gun in public. We don’t usually have that many firearm related crimes.

Crime in 13X were flat in March except for a small increase in auto-related crimes.
