When Crime Occurs

Report a crime If you see a crime in progress, call the police!

Only call 911 from a land line!

From a cell phone call 510-777-3211 which routes directly to OPD dispatch.

To report a crime that has already happened, call the non-emergency number 510-777-3333, or fill in OPD's Online Crime Reporting form.  You'll find the link on their Report a Crime page.

For MEDICAL OR FIRE EMERGENCIES ONLY, you can call the Fire Department directly at 510-444-1616.  They may respond faster than OPD.

The crime report database for Oakland has returned!  Unfortunately it still only contains 90 days of data, which means we have no full data for February, March, April, and May 2023.  The monthly crime statistics for beats 12Y and 13X, covering July 2023 and June 2023 (revised 8/6/23), are now available on http://rockridgencpc.com, under Resources > Crime Stats and Maps > Rockridge Crime Trends 2021-2022 and  Resources > Crime Stats and Maps > Rockridge Crime Trends 2023-2024.   Here is the direct link to the page:

2023-2024https://tinyurl.com/2brhk3vl

Here are the direct links to the reports:

Crime Stats – June 2023 (revised)  https://tinyurl.com/mr2e44j2

Crime Stats – July 2023  https://tinyurl.com/4j2tsxdc

The difference between the number of reported items in June (2 months back) and July (last month) suggest that a revised monthly update after the initial report is still needed.

I see from my notes in February that I was startled by the high number of incidents - 73 in beat 12Y and 10 in beat 13X.  The full June report is much worse – 158 reports in 12Y and 37 in 13X!  It won’t surprise anyone that the largest number of reports in both beats is for auto-related property crimes.  The second largest number in both beats is for property crimes in general.  Crimes against the person are at the high end of our usual results but not abnormally high.  I don’t know why they decided to restore the database in late July, but I assume it will continue as usual from now on.
