What is the NCPC?

 The Greater Rockridge Neighborhood Crime Prevention Council (a.k.a. "Neighborhood Council") liaises with the Oakland Police Dept. and addresses community concerns about public safety. For general community concerns, see the Rockridge Community Planning Council.

Please include a cross street near your property in the sign-up email, so we can be sure we're talking to people in the neighborhood.

 

When Crime Occurs

Report a crime If you see a crime in progress, call the police!

Only call 911 from a land line!  Cell phone calls to 911 go directly to CHP in Martinez and have to be forwarded.

From a cell phone call 510-777-3211 which routes directly to OPD dispatch. 

To report a crime that has already happened:

Call the non-emergency number 510-777-3333, or fill in OPD's Online Crime Reporting form.  You'll find the link on their Report a Crime page.  We've been warned that the form is easier to fill out on a laptop or desktop than it is on a smartphone.

For MEDICAL OR FIRE EMERGENCIES ONLY, call the Fire Department directly at 510-444-1616.  They respond faster than OPD.

Next NCPC Meeting

The Greater Rockridge NCPC meets on the 2nd Thursday of even numbered months:  February, April, June, August, October, and December. 

Next meeting:  Thursday, October 8, 2026, 7:00 PM, Rockridge Library conference room.

Bi-monthly meeting of the Greater Rockridge Neighborhood Crime Prevention Council.  We'll hope to have brief presentations by the local OPD officers, and a discussion of local crime and safety issues.  Our speaker will be Zurvohn Maloof, Inspector General of the Oakland Police Commission, who will discuss how his office works with OPD and the Police Commission.

In-person will meet in the library conference room, masks optional.  There will be a hybrid meeting for those who don't want to attend in person.

Monthly Crime Stats - April 2024 (revised) and May 2024

The monthly crime statistics for beats 12Y and 13X, covering April 2024 (revised 6/5/2024) and May 2024, are now available on http://rockridgencpc.com, under Resources > Crime Stats and Maps > Rockridge Crime Trends 2023-2024.   Here is the direct link to the page:

As usual, April’s revised numbers for 12Y went up when measured in June.  Basic property crime in 12Y was down from revised March numbers (37 to 29) but auto-related property crime was up slightly (37 to 39).  In 13X, both types of property crime were under 10 incidents in both months.  Crimes against the person and quality of life crimes were under 10 in both beats in both months, as usual lower in 13X than in 12Y.

May’s property crime numbers in both beats were down from the April numbers but we’ll see what the July numbers show for May.
