Crime reports in April were fewer than in February and March, in both beats; crimes in May were fewer than in April. The numbers are summarized at the top of each month’s file. The largest number of reported crimes, in both beats, were auto related property crimes (thefts and burglaries); the second largest number were general property crimes (burglaries and other thefts). One concerning issue is that beat 12Y reported 8 crimes against the person – the highest number this year. As usual, beat 13X reported only a fraction of the crimes reported in 12Y, including only 5 auto-related property crimes in April and only 2 in May. We encourage people to report crimes even if they are convinced “the police won’t come” – the reported incident will still tell the police where the crimes are happening and help them to plan where to assign personnel.
