When Crime Occurs

Report a crime If you see a crime in progress, call the police!

Only call 911 from a land line!  Cell phone calls to 911 go directly to CHP in Martinez and have to be forwarded.

From a cell phone call 510-777-3211 which routes directly to OPD dispatch.

To report a crime that has already happened:

Call the non-emergency number 510-777-3333, or fill in OPD's Online Crime Reporting form.  You'll find the link on their Report a Crime page.  We've been warned that the form is easier to fill out on a laptop or desktop than it is on a smartphone.

For MEDICAL OR FIRE EMERGENCIES ONLY, call the Fire Department directly at 510-444-1616.  They respond faster than OPD.

The meeting was addressed by OPD’s new area 2 captain, Captain David Burke, who summarized his department’s recent activity.  We learned that we no longer have Community Resource Officers (returned to patrol) and met the new patrol officer for beat 12.  City Council member Zac Unger also discussed some recent improvements in Oakland, especially recent low crime rates.
