What is the NCPC?

The Greater Rockridge Neighborhood Crime Prevention Council (a.k.a. "Neighborhood Council") liaises with the Oakland Police Dept. and addresses community concerns about public safety. For general community concerns, see the Rockridge Community Planning Council.

When Crime Occurs

Report a crime If you see a crime in progress, call the police!

Only call 911 from a land line!  Cell phone calls to 911 go directly to CHP in Martinez and have to be forwarded.

From a cell phone call 510-777-3211 which routes directly to OPD dispatch.

To report a crime that has already happened:

Call the non-emergency number 510-777-3333, or fill in OPD's Online Crime Reporting form.  You'll find the link on their Report a Crime page.  We've been warned that the form is easier to fill out on a laptop or desktop than it is on a smartphone.

For MEDICAL OR FIRE EMERGENCIES ONLY, call the Fire Department directly at 510-444-1616.  They respond faster than OPD.

Send OPD an Anonymous Tip

A few more crime stats than usual; the first quarter of 2026 got away from me a bit.  My apologies.  These are limited because I forgot to download the files in March.  My January numbers were downloaded in February, but I forgot to publish the report in February.  I don’t have numbers for a “revised” January version. February numbers were downloaded in April.  If I had a March download, the February numbers would be “revised.”

The monthly crime statistics for beats 12Y and 13X, covering December 2025 (revised), January 2026, February 2026, and March 2026, are now available on http://rockridgencpc.com, under Resources > Crime Stats and Maps > Rockridge Crime Trends 2025-2026.   Here is the direct link to the page:

2025-2026:  https://tinyurl.com/fux8v49a

Here are direct links to the reports:

December 2025 (revised)   https://tinyurl.com/mvc6vdcn

January 2026  https://tinyurl.com/4cwxskhu

February 2026  https://tinyurl.com/2stb8m82

March 2026  https://tinyurl.com/c2dm58sz

December was an interesting month; the first download in early January had 63 reports in 12Y and 11 in 13X.  Revised numbers downloaded in early February were 122 reports in 12Y and 12 in 13X!   Crimes against the person were 10 in both months (a little high)  but both types of property crimes nearly doubled in the revised download, but only in beat 12Y.  Crime reports in 13X have been quite low generally.  Numbers went down generally in the January report, to 70 reports in 12Y and 11 in 13X; as usual the highest numbers were in property crimes and auto-related property crimes.  February numbers were similar to January, 80 reports in 12Y and 7 in 13X.  March was down even more, 56 reports in 12Y and 3 in 13X; but in March crimes against the person jumped to 10, all in 12Y.  13X had zero crimes against the person.

Details of reported crimes in both beats are in the PDFs.  I’ll make every effort to publish these reports more regularly in 2026.
