Opened Envelopes in the Mail

Do you ever collect your mail and find that an item has been opened and then taped shut? This is especially likely to happen with personal cards, which may or may not have had a check or a gift card in them. The envelope may or may not be stamped "Received unsealed" with a U.S.P.S. stamp.
This issue came up on the north Oakland NextDoor groups, and a citizen has identified the Federal law enforcement officer who is responsible for investigating these cases in our area. The NCPC appreciates the support from the neighbors.
The U.S. Post Office, and the government, take this very seriously - mail theft is a federal offense. If this happens to you, you should contact this person:
